I have been looking at and dissecting the difference between the natural health movement and the modern medicine movement intensely for a while now, all because I want to get to the heart of why so many seemingly clever people are stuck trying to treat patients using only modern medicine despite deteriorating conditions and also why people are so reluctant to acknowledge natural healing modalities despite having diseases and disorders that are guaranteed to decimate quality of life even though they are on the “appropriate” drugs.
I use the term Ultimate Health a lot. As often people ask me what exactly I mean when I use it, I intend to embody what I am mean in this entry.
The question about grains (the seeds of grasses) and gluten comes up constantly in this health field. Walking down the aisle of an organic health food store there is “whole grain” on so many of the products, meaning there will be a cooked wheat of another gluten containing grain (like rye, barley, spelt etc.) sitting amongst the ingredients list... The sun does not cause cancer, but due to government campaigns falsely slamming its effects we have all grown up believing that it does.
Its early morning and I’m walking through North Bondi. A gentleman walking his dog stops, looks at me quizzically and asks, “What on earth are you doing up at this Godly hour son?” I tell him I’m going to watch the sunrise, he smiles and on we both go. As a sit on my favourite rock, breathing deep in anticipation of first light I reflect on the gentleman’s choice of word “Godly,” and I think to myself, “he’s right, this here, right now, this is the time of the Gods.”
Years ago, before I was into raw food, superfoods, yoga or anything to do with ultimate health I was not a healthy person. I was not stricken with disease, but I was fatigued and unhappy about my lack of vitality. Then a friend of mine mentioned a Tibetan berry that the Daoist monks grew and ate as a spiritual superfood.
