Description
Ashwagandha root is the most prized foundational herb in Ayurvedic tradition for nervous system support, stress relief, a balanced mood, and quality sleep.
Additionally, this potent 10:1 Ashwagandha extract has long been used to enhance energy, support memory and cognitive function and support healthy sexual function.
Ashwagandha is a storied rasayana (rejuvenative therapy) that plays a central role in health cultivation at all stages of life. Traditionally, it was given to young people to support healthy development, and to the elderly to promote calm and vitality.
Modern science recognises its naturally occurring constituents known as withanolides. These are responsible for many of the herb’s studied benefits, which activate alongside the many compounds found in a traditional root extract.
Ashwagandha’s Hindi name derives from ashva (horse), honouring both the horse-like strength it delivers to all that consume it, and, humorously, its horse-sweat-like aroma (which is why most SuperFeasters opt for the capsules!).
In the popular consciousness, “Ashwag” is affectionately described as ‘a remote control for the emotions’; its ability to aid nervous system regulation and emotional balance proves a welcome antidote to our frenetic, often destabilising times.

Q&A
I purchased a 240 cap bag when you wer running a sale on them a few months back. I have been taking them regularly and have kept the closed bag in a dry cupboard with the desicant pouch to keep them dry. Today I noticed that the powder inside all of the remaining caps has gone solid and has small white spots/mold? the caps themself are totally uneffected not sticking together or deformed. Last week it was still powder. Is this a common problem? what is the shelf life of a bag once opened? Its not very humid where I am but it has been warm the last week. Are they still safe to take? or am I having to sadly throw away aprox. 100 caps?
We're sorry to hear you've had issues with the herbs hardening within the capsules. We don't use cheap fillers in our herbs (all our products are 100% herbal extracts), so it does mean they're a little more sensitive to humidity than other products. If any moisture does get into your products, you may find that the powders can end up clumpy or hard, especially if you’re not using them every day. This includes the powder within the capsules which can be sensitive to any humidity in the air. The white spots can be the herb solidfying. The shelf life is approx 2 years, so they should be still in this window! Some things that you may already be doing is keeping them in a cool, dry area. Also, the herbs are designed to be used regularly and the lids closed firmly between use. And if you do need to take a break from them, we suggest to put them in the fridge or freezer. As they are a premium product they do require a little extra TLC, but once you learn how to look after them they will love you back just as much! If your herbs do clump or solidify, rest assured that they are fully extracted and are still perfectly fine to use as per expiry. The herbs within the capsules will dissolve once digested and mixed with the warmth from the digestive system and the biochemical process of digestion so the benefits of the herbs will be enjoyed and extracted as usual by the body. If you're still concerned, feel free to shoot us an email on team@superfeast.com.au with the photo of them, and we can assist you further!
Is ashwaganda safe to take long term? I've been taking it for daily for a year now, and I love it, but want to be sure that's ok?
Hey Amanda, some people are fine with taking it continuously and traditionally it is incorporated daily in a tonic dose however there is some emerging research to suggest cycling is beneficial. This is because the compounds in Ashwagandha stay active in ones system for a longer period of time. You may want to take a break for a few weeks, see if you notice any changes, and then start it up again...but this is not a hard strict rule - do what intuitively feels best for you :) x
Can it be given to children? I have a 6 year old with ADHD.
Hey Tara, thanks for reaching out and that's a great question! Many of our herbs are safe for children to take, and Ashwaghanda is one of them. If you'd like to send us an email we can give you more detailed advice on dosage and any other herbs which could be beneficial :) x
Hey SF team, I am thinking of buying the 360 capsule bag, should I store it in a cupboard, or freezer/fridge? Thank you, Karina
Hey Karina! Great question. If you live in a humid environment we suggest being a bit more careful with the storage of your herbs, so the fridge would be a better place to preserve them for long term. If you don't have humidity as a problem, the cupboard will be fine. Just make sure to give the bag of capsules a big shake at least once a week to prevent the herbs clumping. x Sam
How many mg of Ashwagandha does each capsule hold???
Hey Leisy :) Each Ashwagandha capsule contains 500mg of Ashwagandha extract powder, which is about 1/4 tsp of herb. x Sam
Hey team, what is the shelf life of the capsules?
Hey Ben, Our Ashwagandha capsules have a 2 year best before date. x SF Team
Do you still in powder form? I love the herb, dislike (can't stand) capsules.
Hey Deni, Thanks for reaching out. At this stage, our Ashwagandha is only available in capsules. Like you, we love experiencing the taste of our tonic herbs, so we do hope to offer our Ashwagandha in powder form in the future. Wishing you much love and happy herbing. x SF
