Cordyceps CS-4, the non-threatening relative of Zombie Fungus...

Wait, Zombie Fungus?! Yes, you read right. Cordyceps has quite the story...

In case you aren't aware of the zombie-like behaviours of one of our fave mushies, you can catch up on this story here here - it’s a fascinating and entertaining read :)

As we all know, with great power comes great responsibility. And with Ophiocordyceps unilateralis being such a notorious serial ant and larvae killer - isn’t there a better way to make use of its Zombie Fungus' destructive energy?!

Turning his killer ways into something more constructive...?

Let me tell you: yes - there definitely is a better way.

(Don’t know what I’m talking about here? Click the link above - it’ll all make sense then).

Meet Cordyceps CS-4, the non-threatening relative of Zombie Fungus...

Or, as we like to call him, Cordy (such a cutie)! Cordy is our high-performance tonic adaptogen. There’s a fascinating story behind cordy and how he kinda went viral back in 1993 (yes, that’s basically pre-internet). During the World Marathon Cup in San Sebastian, Spain in November 1993, a group of four Chinese athletes finished the marathon with a perfect score - taking spots 1 through 4.

Their incredible finishes during these games raised serious questions about illegal doping. So they were removed from competing in any future cups or games and got thoroughly tested. Lots and lots of tests later, not a trace of illegal doping could be found. What exactly was their secret?

Well, according to their steel-fisted coach Ma Junren, their success was a result of the following:

  1. Relentless training (OK, fair enough)
  2. Turtle shell soup (Yikes, no thanks)
  3. Cordyceps sinensis (Yes please!)

Now, I’d never endorse illegal doping. But as far as I’m informed, cordy has never been classified as an illegal doping compound (phew). Although you could say he’s the closest thing to natural, legal doping you can get :P

But what does cordy do - and why do we love him so much?

Besides many other really impressive things he might do for you, we’re extremely enchanted by him for a couple of reasons:

    • Energy improvement by building power and stamina
    • Better blood oxygenation
    • Supporting immunity
    • Increased athletic recovery
    • Deeper and more recharging sleep

This means that if you infuse your pre-workout with cordy, your F45 session, Ashtanga class, Crossfit WOD or reformer Pilates class may be supported by the potency of what used to be one of China’s best kept secrets.

Imagine all the demanding things you like to do - but on easy mode!

Your workout or movement practice? Easy!

Need to get brain-heavy, creative work done?

What about be more present and energetic, feel more “in the moment”?

Getting your day started without the coffee jitters (but not wanting to miss out on the energy boost)? We’ve got you covered, fam - with cordy!

As you can see, he’s a very capable fella. And gosh we love him... honestly, existing without him would be possible...but a *very* dull experience…
